Miss Iraq 2009 - Zeena Zahawi

The 63rd Annual Miss Iraq / Iraq’s Queen of Beauty contest was concluded in Nineveh- Iraq on March 17th, Zeena Zahawi, A 23 year old Model and Fashion Design student from Baghdad won the event. Talat Model Management is still in negotiations with Miss World organizers and has not confirmed entry yet despite the fact that we received the 2009 Miss World license.

Iraq’s Maiden of Beauty was Aure Arnulf, 22 from Baghdad who works in Public Relations, she will represent Iraq in Miss Earth 2009.

Iraq’s Queen of Grace was Galit Sharabani while Iraq’s Teen Queen was Sandra Sassoon.

The Audience Favorite Award went to Corina Moshe Haim.

Finalists were: Corina Moshe Haim and Alina Shohet

Semi Finalists were: Anna Horesh Baher, Rania Agassi, Shani Ben Noah and Yael Yadgar

The delegates competed in Swimsuits and then ten semi finalists were selected from a group of twenty, then evening gowns followed where the number then was trimmed to six finalists who then had to answer questions from the judges and finally the winners were announced.

Miss Teen Iraq 2009 Yael Zeki Shlomo also competed but was unplaced.

Talat Model Management produced the pageant for the fourth year in a row and will now offer the winner a unique opportunity to travel and speak for women’s rights. Miss Iraq 2009 will be a spokes person for women, defending them against abuse and domestic violence.
